Aunt Frances' recipe. Never had it, but her kids loved it!
Ingredients
- Round Steak (1/4 inch thick): 1 1/2 Lbs.
- Olive Oil Or Shortening
- Red Or Bermuda Onion (Chopped)
- Small Tomato (Diced)
- Sour Cream Or Lemon Juice: 2 TSP
- Flour: 1 TSP
- Hot Water: 1/2 Cup
- Can Button Mushrooms: 3 Oz.
- Salt And Pepper To Taste
Instructions
- Cut round steak into strips 1/8-inch wide, then cut in 1-inch lengths.
- Brown meat quickly in olive oil or shortening.
- Add onion and tomato. Cook until tender and slightly brown.
- Add sour cream or lemon juice.
- Sprinkle flour over all and blend well.
- Add hot water and stir while cooking until gravy is formed.
- Add mushrooms.
- Serve immediately.
