This is a layered macaroni and beef casserole made by the family for years, now seriously upgraded!
Ingredients
- Ground Beef: 1 Lbs
- Onion (Diced): 1/2 Cup
- Garlic (Minced): 1 Clove
- Salt: 1 TSP
- Basil (Dried): 1 TBSP
- Black pepper: 1/2 TSP
- Tomato paste: 2 TBSP
- Pasatte (Italian tomato sauce): 1 Bottle
- Sugar (Optional): 1 1/2 TSP
- Garlic Powder: 1 TSP
- Onion Powder: 1 TSP
- Macaroni: 8 Oz
- Mozzarella cheese (Shredded): 1 1/2 Cup
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef until browned.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic, cook until onion is translucent.
- Season with salt, dried basil, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Stir in tomato paste, sugar, and Italian tomato sauce, simmer for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions, drain.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the macaroni, beef mixture, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
